PUBLIC VISIBILITY IMPORTANT TO CANADIAN HOME BUILDER’S ASSOCIATION, GREATER FREDERICTON

A larger membership and greater visibility within the public are the keys to greater
growth and economic stability in the years ahead, says Eldon Toner, owner of E &
R Toner Renovations Ltd. and new president of the Canadian Home Builder’s Association,
Greater Fredericton.
“We’re here for the public; we’re the public’s number one source of information
pertaining to the residential building industry. When they come to us, they can
expect to get all of the information they need with regards to residential construction
and renovations,” he says.
Toner says he believes a large membership ensures a more effective organization.
“The more members we have the stronger our Association is, for our members and for
the people who we do business with,” he says. He notes that being a member of the
Canadian Home Builder’s Association lends an even greater credibility to a home
builder’s business.
“The government consults with the Canadian Home Builder’s Association members to
develop building codes and standards and in this way our members do have an opportunity
to have an input. Our Association gets all of the new information on everything
from products, services, equipment to building codes and that information is quickly
funneled to our members,” he explains.
Canadian Home Builders’ Association members also provide invaluable support for
each other in the sharing of information and help with solving industry related
problems. The annual awards ceremony honours builders in a number of residential
construction-related categories. “Being named as a province-wide winner certainly
adds to a company’s credibility and is a very effective marketing tool as well.
To be honoured by your peers, who are also your competitors, is an outstanding tribute
to a person’s capabilities,” Toner notes.
The Canadian Home Builder’s Association Greater Fredericton represents many residential
builders, sub-contractors and other industry-related companies and organizations.

WELCOMES NEW PRESIDENT
The Canadian Home Builders’ Association Greater Fredericton held its Annual General
Meeting on Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Ramada Fredericton.
Incoming President Eldon Toner, E & R Toner Renovations, presented outgoing
President Karsten Curtis of Sunbury Developments with a plaque in appreciation of
his three years of service as President to the Board of Directors.
Karsten Curtis will be accepting the position of President of the Canadian Home
Builders’ Association New Brunswick at the provincial Annual General Meeting during
Habitation 2009 in February.
